Charlotte de Tonnac and Hugo Sauzay joined forces just after their interior design studies at the École Camondo in Paris. After graduating in 2011, the couple went on to establish their design studio, Festen.
They thrive in bringing a contemporary, relevant energy to classical spaces and in creating a sense of place and history in new build projects, with their attention to material, bespoke design and natural, understated elegance.
Festen designs residential and hospitality projects as well as scenography and installations. Understanding the context of each site and its history are the starting points for each project Festen undertakes. This is felt in the instantly emblematic, evocative spaces they create, such as the Château Voltaire in Paris and the Splendido Mare in Portofino.
From their Paris office, they are currently working worldwide on a variety of residential and public projects such as l’Hôtel du Couvent in Nice, opening May 2024, a five stars hotel in Gstaad, a hotel in Mexico, as well as residential projects in New York and St. Barth’s, and a private members’ restaurant in London. restaurant in London.
