Luke is the Creative Director of Chateau Orlando, a new clothing and homewares brand, which he co-founded in 2022. Chateau Orlando is based between Milan and London, and manufactures its collections in the Veneto region of Italy.
In March 2019 Luke joined the Financial Times as a weekly columnist in FT Weekend, answering readers’ questions on aesthetics, interior design and stylish living. Luke has authored three books: Greco Disco: The Art & Design of Luke Edward Hall, published by teNeues, A Kind of Magic: The Kaleidoscopic World of Luke Edward Hall, published by Vendome, and 300,000 Kisses: Tales of Queer Love from the Ancient World, published by Penguin.
Luke Edward Hall was born in Hampshire, England in 1989, and studied menswear fashion design at Central Saint Martins. He works from his studio, which is housed in a barn on a farm in the Cotswolds.
Luke established his studio in the autumn of 2015 and since then has split his time working on a broad range of projects and across multiple disciplines. He exhibits his drawings and paintings internationally with Athens-based gallery The Breeder, and works as an interior designer, creating and art directing hotels, bars and restaurants. Previous projects include a thirty-eight-bedroom hotel and bistro in Paris, and a restaurant inside the iconic Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz.
Luke collaborates with a variety of companies and historic institutions. He produces porcelain and home fragrance ranges with Ginori 1735, a collection of interior fabrics with Rubelli, and furniture and accessories with The Lacquer Company and Svenskt Tenn. His previous clients include Burberry, Lanvin, Diptyque, Christie’s, Royal Academy of Arts, and the V&A.
